Joe Kilsheimer

Former Mayor Joe Kilsheimer owns Kilsheimer & Associates, a government affairs and public involvement consulting practice that advises and assists clients in the municipal
infrastructure industry.

Among his roles: Kilsheimer serves as Executive Director of the Florida Waste-to-
Energy Coalition, a group of local governments in Florida that use large-scale
incinerators for the safe and environmentally responsible of disposal of municipal solid
waste.

From 2014 to 2018, Kilsheimer served as the elected mayor of Apopka, Florida, a city of
60,000 residents in Central Florida. While in office, Kilsheimer led the city through a
transition from the previous administration, which held office for 60+ years. Kilsheimer
launched initiatives to overhaul Apopka’s aging infrastructure, rebuild the city’s parks
and establish a national-award-winning summer youth employment program.

While in elected office, Kilsheimer played active roles in the U.S. Conference of Mayors
and the Florida League of Cities, serving on the respective environmental policy
committees of each organization.
